Papa Stronsay Burnt Mound is an archaeological site located 500 metres east of the mill on Papa Stronsay in Orkney, Scotland. Burnt mounds, known locally as kistvaens or cooking mounds, are accumulated deposits of fire-cracked stone and charcoal that typically date to the Bronze Age or Iron Age periods. These monuments are thought to represent the remains of cooking or heating activities, possibly associated with food preparation or industrial processes such as brewing or metalworking. The mound constitutes an important archaeological resource for understanding prehistoric settlement patterns and domestic practices in the Northern Isles.
