Ratchill is a post-medieval platform settlement and ring enclosure located 460 metres north-east of the named site in Peeblesshire, Scottish Borders. The monument comprises earthwork remains consisting of a raised platform together with an associated ring-form enclosure, characteristic of settlement patterns from the early modern period in the Scottish uplands. The site reflects the domestic and agricultural organisation of rural communities during the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries, a period marked by significant change in pastoral and subsistence practices across the region.
