Riccarton Tower is a late medieval tower house located in Roxburghshire, in the Scottish Borders. The structure dates to the sixteenth century and represents the fortified domestic architecture typical of the Anglo-Scottish border region during a period of considerable military tension and raiding. The tower exhibits the characteristic features of border pele towers, designed to provide defensive refuge for its inhabitants and their livestock during times of conflict. As a scheduled ancient monument under Historic Environment Scotland, Riccarton Tower remains an important surviving example of vernacular military architecture from the early modern period in southern Scotland.
