The Sweet Track, dating to around 3800 BCE, represents one of the oldest known engineered roads in Britain, constructed from wooden posts and planks laid across marshy ground to facilitate passage across the wetland landscape. The Post Track, which succeeds it chronologically, follows a similar alignment and demonstrates the continued use and adaptation of this ancient routeway through the Neolithic period.
