The monument comprises a single defensive rampart enclosing an approximately circular or oval interior, with an entrance gap on the eastern side. Constructed during the Iron Age, likely in the later prehistoric period, the fort would have served defensive and possibly administrative or gathering functions typical of such settlements. The site remains substantially visible as an earthwork, preserving the characteristic morphology of Essex's Iron Age hillforts despite subsequent agricultural use of the landscape.
