Wat's Dyke is a linear earthwork of early medieval date, running broadly north-south along the border region between England and Wales. This section, located near St Martin's Road in Shropshire, forms part of an extensive defensive system traditionally attributed to the 8th century, contemporary with or predating Offa's Dyke. The surviving earthwork comprises a substantial bank with an associated ditch, typical of the Anglo-Saxon frontier works constructed to regulate and defend against cross-border movement. The monument remains an important topographical survival of early medieval territorial demarcation in the Welsh Marches.
