Emily Donelson was born in June 1807 in Donelson, Tennessee. She served as acting first lady of the United States from 1829 to 1834 during her uncle Andrew Jackson's presidency, following the death of Jackson's wife Rachel in the weeks before his inauguration. Donelson died in December 1836.
