Biography
George Read was born in North East, Maryland in 1733 and died in 1798. He worked as a lawyer, judge, and jurist in New Castle, Delaware, and held political office as a Continental Congressman, a delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1787, president of Delaware, a U.S. Senator from Delaware, and chief justice of Delaware. He was a member of the Federalist Party.
