Gerald Carr was born in Denver, Colorado on August 22, 1932, and died on August 26, 2020. He worked as a mechanical and aeronautical engineer, served as a United States Marine Corps officer and aviator, and became a NASA astronaut. Carr commanded Skylab 4, the third and final crewed visit to the Skylab Orbital Workshop, from November 16, 1973, to February 8, 1974.
