John M. Lounge was born in Denver, Colorado in 1946 and died in 2011. He served as a military officer and engineer, and worked as a NASA astronaut. Lounge flew on three Space Shuttle missions—STS-51-I in 1985 and STS-26 in 1988 as a mission specialist, and STS-35 in 1990 as flight engineer—accumulating more than 482 hours in space.
