Junior Wells was born in Memphis, Tennessee on December 9, 1934, and died on January 15, 1998. He worked as a blues musician and singer, playing harmonica and recording music that he classified as rhythm and blues. His 1965 album Hoodoo Man Blues was described by critic Bill Dahl as "one of the truly classic blues albums of the 1960s," and he recorded "Messin' with the Kid."
