History & Significance

Donald Balloch destroyed a royal government army sent to suppress the Lords of the Isles. The victory temporarily reasserted MacDonald power in the west. Not to be confused with Montrose's Inverlochy in 1645 — this was a clan/crown conflict over the lordship of the Isles.
