Constantius Chlorus came to Britain specifically to conduct campaigns against the Picts who had been raiding the northern frontier. He conducted at least one successful campaign before dying at York in July 306 AD, where his son Constantine was immediately proclaimed emperor. The campaign secured the Wall zone temporarily.
