Niall Glúndub, High King of Ireland, led a coalition to destroy the Norse kingdom of Dublin but was killed along with twelve other Irish kings. The disaster confirmed Norse Dublin's permanence and showed the limits of Irish power against the Hiberno-Norse. Niall was the last High King to die in battle against the Norse.
