The Battle

History & Significance

Kimbolton Castle in Huntingdonshire, home of the Earl of Manchester who commanded the Eastern Association army, was garrisoned for Parliament throughout the Civil War. The castle served as both a garrison and an administrative centre for the Eastern Association. Parliamentary cavalry based at Kimbolton patrolled the Ouse valley and prevented Royalist incursion.
