History & Significance

Following the bloody dispersal at Newton Field, the sheriffs of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Leicestershire mustered posses comitatus across the affected counties and systematically broke up remaining levelling gangs. The posse actions across the three counties in the days after Newton Field ended the Midlands Rising, with arrests, whippings and some executions of ringleaders demonstrating crown authority over the agrarian unrest.
