The Battle

History & Significance

At Naseby Sir Marmaduke Langdale commanding the Royalist Northern Horse on the left wing initially pushed back Ireton cavalry on the Parliamentary right. Langdale veterans from Marston Moor fought hard and briefly penetrated the Parliamentary line before Cromwell cavalry on the opposite wing returned and destroyed the Royalist infantry. Langdale horse was then driven from the field.
