History & Significance

One of the series of battles through which Oengus I crushed all rival claimants to the Pictish kingship. Drest mac Alpin was defeated — he had briefly seized power during the instability of the 720s. The Annals of Ulster record this battle as part of the complex series of Pictish dynastic conflicts that Oengus I resolved through superior military force.
