A Second Civil War Royalist uprising in Nottinghamshire in 1648 was suppressed at Willoughby Field near Nottingham by Parliamentary cavalry under Colonel Rossiter. The Royalist force attempting to raise the county for the king was intercepted and defeated before it could join the main Second Civil War forces operating in the north.
