In Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, and other counties, protesters threw down hedges and fences. The government's ruthless suppression — including the use of foreign mercenaries — contributed to the fall of the Protector Somerset. The Midlands disturbances were less organised than Kett's but represented the same agrarian crisis.
