History & Significance

Bradford Chartists including Robert Peddie planned an armed rising in January 1840 as part of the coordinated insurrectionary movement that also included the Sheffield plot. The plan was betrayed and leaders arrested before any action took place. Bradford Chartism subsequently became more moderate.
