Brian Boru and the High King Máel Sechnaill jointly crushed the Leinstermen and their Norse Dublin allies. Brian then sacked Dublin, freeing Sitric's slaves and carrying off great plunder. After this victory Brian's power was supreme in southern Ireland and he was poised to challenge for the High Kingship.
