The Battle

History & Significance

Warbeck accompanied James IV of Scotland on a raid into Northumberland in September 1496, proclaiming himself Richard IV of England. Northumbrians did not rise to join him; the raid burned farms but achieved no political objective. James withdrew after a few days when Henry VII mobilised forces.
