History & Significance

The final major military challenge to MacKenzie control of Wester Ross from the MacDonalds. After this engagement, the MacKenzies had effectively consolidated their hold on the mainland west coast. Their position would be formalised when the last MacLeod of Lewis was expelled in 1610 and the MacKenzies absorbed Lewis as well.
