History & Significance

The Norse, expelled from Dublin in 902, returned in force. The victory at Confey (near Leixlip) established the Hiberno-Norse kingdom of Dublin permanently. Sitric Cáech would go on to rule Dublin until 920. Dublin became the most important Viking city in the British Isles.
