History & Significance

The Campbells were the primary instrument of MacGregor proscription, holding government commissions to suppress the clan. MacGregor bands in Glen Dochart ambushed Campbell search parties repeatedly in the years immediately after proscription. The glen provided excellent ground for guerrilla resistance with its narrow passes and thick woodland.
