History & Significance

Prince Rupert conducted a surprise attack on Parliamentary cavalry at Ledbury in April 1645, driving them through the town's narrow streets. It was one of Rupert's last successful cavalry actions before the catastrophe of Naseby. The skirmish showed that even after years of war, Royalist cavalry could still operate effectively in the Marches.
