History & Significance

Framlingham Castle in Suffolk, where Mary I had rallied support in 1553, was secured by the Eastern Association without a serious contest. Parliament used the town as a supply base for operations in east Suffolk. The castle's curtain wall with its Tudor chimneys remains one of the most complete in England.
