History & Significance

James Wilson led approximately twenty Strathaven weavers in a march toward Glasgow under a green banner reading Scotland Free or a Desert, believing they were joining a larger national rising. Finding no other rebels assembled they dispersed. Wilson was arrested and subsequently executed.
