Under Antoninus Pius, governor Lollius Urbicus reconquered the Scottish lowlands abandoned since 87 AD. An inscription records that he defeated the Britons. The campaign pushed through Votadini and Selgovae territory, establishing the forts that would support the new Antonine Wall. Coins struck in Rome celebrated the British victory. The 50-year interval had allowed the lowland tribes to reconstitute as a significant military force.
