History & Significance

During the Second Civil War of 1648, pockets of Royalist resistance emerged across north Wales alongside the main risings in South Wales (St Fagans) and the Pembroke siege. Small engagements occurred in Caernarfonshire as ex-Royalist soldiers and disaffected Welsh gentry attempted to rise. These were quickly suppressed by Parliamentary garrisons now firmly established in the key Welsh castles.
