The Battle

History & Significance

A Norse fleet expelled from Dublin in 902 (the first expulsion of the Norse from Dublin) sought new raiding grounds and attacked Anglesey in 903. The raid was particularly destructive as the displaced Dublin Vikings were desperate for plunder and bases. Ingimund, leader of the expelled Norse, used the north Welsh coast as a staging ground before eventually establishing himself near Chester.
