History & Significance

Before Edward IV arrived at Coventry, Warwick attempted to secure Clarence as a military ally. Clarence however met Edward between Banbury and Coventry on the Warwick road and was reconciled to his brother, removing approximately 4000 men from Warwick's side. The defection of Clarence was decisive in the 1471 campaign.
