One of a series of battles that established Oengus I as the paramount Pictish king. Nechtan IV, who had introduced the Roman Easter controversy into Pictland, was defeated and forced to retire to a monastery. Oengus would go on to become the most powerful Pictish king, crushing Dál Riata and dominating northern Britain.
