The Battle

History & Significance

After the Battle of Traigh Ghruineard in 1598 (already in DB), the MacDonalds conducted reprisal raids against the MacLeans in Islay. The cycle of violence between these two great clans continued for years after the main battle. These small-scale raids and counter-raids are poorly documented but form the real texture of clan warfare.
