Battle of Fyvie Castle 1644 was a Civil War pitched battle between opposing field armies, fought at Aberdeenshire, Scotland in 1644. Royalists (Montrose) prevailed over Covenanters (Argyll). An inconclusive but intense engagement lasting over 36 hours; Montrose's outnumbered Royalists held a defensible position at Fyvie Castle and repulsed repeated Covenanter attacks, but recognising the position was unsustainable, Montrose withdrew his army, marching to Balvenie Castle by 6 November.
