The final engagement of the First Civil War; Sir Jacob Astley marched a small Royalist force from Worcester toward Oxford and was intercepted at Stow-on-the-Wold in March 1646; on being captured he sat on a drum and told his captors they could go and play for the wars were done — and he was right.
