Launceston was a key waypoint for both the rebel march eastward and the subsequent royal pacification westward. The town submitted to royal authority in the aftermath of the rebellion under threat from Kingston's forces. Launceston saw the formal surrender of remaining Cornish rebel leaders and the reinstatement of crown authority over the county town of Cornwall.
