The Battle

History & Significance

The last major Welsh rebellion before Owain Glyndŵr. Madog ap Llywelyn — claiming the title Prince of Wales — led a general uprising that briefly swept English administration from Wales. The Earl of Warwick's English force used a combined arms formation of cavalry and spearmen to crush the Welsh at Maes Moydog. The defeat was so complete it suppressed Welsh resistance for over a century.
