The Battle

History & Significance

One of the earliest recorded battles involving Dál Riata. The Cruithin (the Irish Picts) were defeated in a battle near the River Bann. The battle is notable as one of the first actions connecting the Scottish Dál Riata directly with Irish affairs — the two-way movement across the Irish Sea that characterised this period.
