The Battle

History & Significance

A MacLeod raiding force from Harris landed in North Uist and was trapped and annihilated by the MacDonalds. Only one MacLeod survived to tell the tale. The battle was one of the last major clan conflicts in the Outer Hebrides and demonstrated that the islands were still largely beyond central government control.
