Following the battle of Pwll Melyn near Usk where Lord Talbot defeats a major Welsh force, Glyndwr brother Tudur is killed and his son Gruffudd is captured. Gruffudd is taken to London and dies in the Tower. The action near Usk severely damages Glyndwr family and military leadership, reducing his ability to project power into southeast Wales.
