The Battle

History & Significance

Lambert Simnel was crowned King Edward VI in Dublin Cathedral on 24 May 1487 with the support of Gerald Fitzgerald Earl of Kildare, financed by Margaret Duchess of Burgundy. The Irish coronation created a rival claimant that forced Henry VII to take the rebellion seriously and mobilise a major army.
