The Battle

History & Significance

The Gordon family attempted to use Inverurie in Aberdeenshire as a concentration point for royalist forces during the First Bishops War. Gordon of Haddo and Viscount Aboyne sought to gather sufficient men to contest the Covenanting occupation of the northeast. The muster was disrupted by Montrose's Covenanting forces before it could produce a viable field army.
