History & Significance

During the Readeption of Henry VI from October 1470 to April 1471 Warwick governed England in Henry's name. Warwick's power base was in the Midlands and he used Coventry as his headquarters. However the Readeption government was never fully stable — Scotland would not return Berwick, Charles of Burgundy supported Edward IV, and the Lancastrian lords were divided.
