The MacAllisters of Kintyre were one of the smaller clans squeezed by Campbell expansion into their peninsula. They maintained resistance to complete Campbell absorption through much of the sixteenth century. This skirmish in southern Kintyre represents one episode in their ultimately unsuccessful defence of their independence.
