Outcome
Leven abandoned the siege after about a month (1-2 September) on news of Montrose's victory at Kilsyth and the approach of a Royalist relief army; Hereford was not taken. King Charles I entered the city on 4 September and knighted the defending commander Barnabas Scudamore. The city later fell to Parliamentarians under John Birch in a surprise attack on 18 December 1645.
