History & Significance

Battle of Chirk Castle was a Civil War pitched battle between opposing field armies, fought in Wales in 1644. Which side prevailed is not recorded in the surviving sources, and its outcome is not conclusively established in the historical record. It belongs to the Wars of the Three Kingdoms of 1639 to 1651, when the forces of Crown and Parliament fought across England, Scotland and Ireland.
