Airth Old Church is a medieval church in Stirlingshire, Scotland, situated within the grounds of Airth Castle. The building occupies land underlain by Scottish Coal Measures Group bedrock of Moscovian age, a sequence of mudstone, siltstone, sandstone, coal, ironstone and ferricrete that characterises the geological substrate of central Scotland. This coalfield geology shaped the region's later industrial development, though the church itself belongs to the medieval period when the area was primarily agricultural and aristocratic.
The church is closely associated with Airth Castle, the nearby fortified residence that dominates the landscape. Both structures reflect the medieval settlement pattern whereby the local laird's stronghold and the parish church occupied positions of mutual prominence. The castle's defensive position overlooked the Firth of Forth, whilst the church served the spiritual needs of the community and the castle's inhabitants.
