Barncorkrie hut circles and field system is a post-medieval settlement located in Wigtownshire, south-western Scotland, approximately 520 metres north-north-west of the townland. The site comprises the remains of several small dwellings arranged alongside evidence of organised agricultural use of the surrounding land. The underlying bedrock is Hawick Group wacke, formed during the Wenlock period, providing the local stone that would have been worked into building materials and field boundaries by its inhabitants.
Post-medieval settlements of this type typically date from the sixteenth century onwards, representing a phase of rural habitation and land use before the major agricultural reorganisations of later centuries. The combination of hut circles and associated field systems indicates a self-sufficient community managing both domestic and pastoral or arable activities within the same locality. The wacke bedrock would have influenced both the character of construction and the agricultural potential of the ground.
